MX60-Pro

Front End One

The Drawmer MX60-Pro Front End One is a comprehensive channel strip designed to deliver professional analogue processing before recording or live amplification. Combining a high-quality mic, line, and instrument preamp with gating, de-essing, compression, limiting, equalisation, and multiband tube saturation, it provides exceptional control and tonal flexibility in a single 1U rack unit.

Derived from Drawmer’s flagship designs, the MX60-Pro features Programme Adaptive dynamics, a musical VCA compressor, and a discrete preamp inspired by the legendary Drawmer 1960. Its multiband Tube Sound section adds authentic harmonic warmth, making the MX60-Pro equally suited to clean tracking, characterful recording, and live sound applications where reliability and sonic quality are essential.

Channel Strip with Dynamics & Tube Saturation
The Drawmer MX60-Pro Front End One is a versatile mic, line, and instrument channel strip that delivers a complete suite of professional processing before recording to tape or hard disk. Designed for both project studios and live sound, it combines high-quality analogue circuitry with intelligent dynamics control and harmonic enhancement in a single 1U rack unit.

Featuring a premium preamp, gate, de-esser, compressor, limiter, EQ, and multiband tube saturation, the MX60-Pro offers exceptional control, character, and flexibility at an accessible price point.

Input Stage
At the heart of the MX60-Pro is a discrete-component microphone preamp derived directly from the legendary Drawmer 1960. It delivers warmth, clarity, and wide dynamic range, while accepting mic, line, or instrument-level signals.

Balanced +4 dB and unbalanced –10 dB inputs are provided, along with switchable 48 V phantom power and phase reverse. A high-impedance front-panel instrument input allows direct connection of guitars, basses, synths, and drum machines without the need for additional DI boxes.

Dynamics Processing
The MX60-Pro incorporates Drawmer’s proprietary Programme Adaptive dynamics circuitry for smooth, musical control. The gate automatically adjusts its timing characteristics for stable, chatter-free operation, while the de-esser uses a floating threshold that continually adapts to the signal, removing sibilance transparently with selectable male and female voicing.

The VCA-based compressor, derived from the MX30 and DL241, provides effortless level control with automatic attack and release, alongside user-adjustable threshold, ratio, and make-up gain. A preset limiter set at +16 dB ensures reliable peak protection during recording or live use.

Equalisation
The three-band EQ combines high and low shelving filters with a fully parametric mid band offering variable frequency, Q, and up to ±18 dB of cut or boost. This flexible design allows anything from subtle tonal refinement to more creative shaping during tracking or mixing.

“I was going to single out the compressor and de-esser as being worthy of special attention — but then, the mic amp is also extremely good, and I can’t really complain about the EQ either.”
— Paul White, Sound On Sound

Tube Sound & Output Stage
The MX60-Pro’s multiband Tube Sound section introduces authentic analogue warmth and harmonic richness across three independently adjustable frequency bands. From gentle saturation to full-bodied drive, it can emulate the character of vintage valve microphones or add modern presence and depth.

A master output stage provides clear output metering and a variable fader from OFF to +15 dB. Dual-stage soft and hard limiting, indicated by yellow and red LEDs, ensures smooth, controlled output and dependable protection under all operating conditions.
